In the past there were large and expensive data acquisition systems and you could possibly monitor a single cylinder only. Well, that’s a thing of the past, we have now affordable real time combustion analysis which can be used during normal operation to continuously optimize the combustion. Piezo electric sensors have come down in price ie 150 dollars and last 25k hours.

Transient response

Lean burn gas engine transient performances can significantly be improved by moving from a conventional system to a single (or sequential multi) -point gas injection system, by a concept called “Transient Enrichment”. Typically lean burn gas engine’s transient performance are limited to about 25% load steps (conventional system). At several locations in Australia we have achieved 50% and maintained such performance for almost 2 decades.
